Dropping Dimes On The Daily is all about the team looking at the previous night’s performances and mentioning those that did pretty goodly and those that did pretty badly. Goodly is a word, right? Anyway, this will be a quick look around the league, so don’t expect a ton of text, just some daily fantasy basketball goodness!!! Please note that this is the fantasy basketball section of ElevationMag.com’s Daily Top Picks. Check it out and see your daily rumors, quotes, headlines, and facts! But read the fantasy section HERE!
The Fig Cap: I don’t care if Duke is out of the top 25, I’m still going to REPRESENT…by fouling UConn.

Injury Lowdown - What the Heck Did I Miss?!?!

I am back like Jack Bauer! Unlike Jack’s dramatic return from a Chinese prison, I was freed (booted?) from my parent’s basement. Now semi-acclimated to life on my own (thank god for the microwave!), I am ready to make a contribution to Dropping Dimes. Thanks to Dennis, Sarge, and Alvin for holding down the DD fort.
What the heck did I miss? What is up with all the injuries to key fantasy players?! In all my years in fantasy basketball, I don’t remember a season where so many players have been knocked out with injuries like a Mirko Cro Cop high kick (He is going to wreck havoc in the UFC!). In one of my leagues, a GM lost his top four picks to injuries (Chris Paul, Yao Ming, Josh Smith and Rashard Lewis). The poor GM had his playoff hopes dashed in the month of December. Them’s the breaks. In this edition of the Injury Lowdown I will give a quick rundown of key injuries and some players to keep an eye on.

Stat’s All Folks: T-Mac Is Back!
Posted by Dennis Velasco Categories: Atlantic Division, Central Division, H2H, Northwest Division, Pacific Division, Props, Roto, Site Features, Southeast Division, Southwest Division, Talent, Waiver Pick Ups,
Stat’s All Folks will be a week-to-week stock market look at the standard cumulative categories – points, assists, rebounds, three-pointers made, steals, and blocks. I’ll be calling out the “bulls” and “bears” in each category, in order to help you assess your portfolio of players on your fantasy basketball team(s) and whether you should sell, hold, and/or diversify your assets.
Note that you won’t always see the superstar player written about in this column, otherwise it would be LeBron James or Steve Nash every week. So, check out who’s bullish and who’s bearish coming into the week.
Statistics are from December 28th – January 3rd.
POINTSBULLISH
Tracy McGrady, SG/SF, Houston Rockets
Last Week’s Numbers of Note: 3 G; 33.3 PPG; 56.5 FG%; 55.6 FT%
In the past week, McGrady has been playing like the T-Mac of old and not like an old T-Mac. In each of his three games, McGrady has scored 31, 38, and 31 points, respectively. And it hasn’t even been a fluke sort of deal where he just jacked up forty or more shots to get his points. Look at the field goal percentage above too. Taking 23 shot attempts per game on average is a lot, but again, look at that percentage from the floor! No wonder McGrady’s been scoring so much and it speaks well for his health as well, being able to hit that many baskets at a high rate. I won’t declare him “back” because of the lingering prospect of back spasms that sidelined T-Mac earlier this season, so throw out some feeler deals for more durable players. Otherwise, hold T-Mac and hope he stays healthy.

POINTSBULLISH
Allen Iverson, PG, Philadelphia 76ers
Last Week’s Numbers of Note: 3 G; 40.7 PPG; 44.2 FG%; 90.2 FT%
How does Iverson come back from sitting out two games because of injury? Here’s the “answer” – AI drops 46 points on the Chicago Bulls in a 123-108 Sixers win his first game back. The next night against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Iverson scores 31 points, which made many wonder if he was still suffering from injury because he only scored 31 points (sarcasm fully intended). However, AI dispelled any worries about his scoring deficiencies by hanging 45 points on the Miami Heat the following game. Iverson is just plain getting sick with it!

We’ll rank EACH position into a Top 15 list and in parentheses have that player’s average position ranking amongst the five of us. First up… number of games for each team then the week’s rankings afterwards.

Dime Day: The Glass is Half-Empty
Posted by Alvin Lai Categories: Atlantic Division, Central Division, Disses, Northwest Division, Pacific Division, Site Features, Southeast Division, Southwest Division, Talent,
I went to dinner with two friends a couple of weeks ago. As usual, the conversation gravitated towards the entertainment industry. One of them said he gave The Departed a thumbs down because it was “too predictable” and then proceeded to say he was shocked at the ending. He then laughed every time as we recalled some of the funny lines in the movie. The other friend was asked what his “single of the year” was, a question that stumped the rest of us. He noted that he really liked the new Keane album so he would probably choose a song on there, and then remarked that he hated the single they actually released when I began to sing it. Maybe he just didn’t like my singing.
In the world of e-revenge, people can pan everything from a movie to a restaurant to a doctor faster than ever before. The natural response is to focus on the negative. Since Ron has the injury news on lock-down, Zack is keeping track of the rooks, Scott is combing through the waiver wire for all our benefit, and Dennis is busy conquering the fantasy sports world, today Dime Day looks at Yahoo’s top ranked players pre-season and looks at their production thus far using the critical eye. Does the Matrix get the love in the end?
